About a year ago, I realized that there were a few things that I needed to do around the house to make my place feel more like a home. For starters, I knew that I needed to replace the carpet, since it was damaged from years of use. Unfortunately, I knew that I didn't have the skills to take care of things on my own, so I turned to a team of professional contractors. They were incredible to work with, and even taught me how to create a great construction environment for my team. After the project was done, I knew that I wanted to make a blog about creating a positive construction environment.
If you are sick and tired of that old bulky entertainment center in your living or family room, then you might want to take a moment to reflect on the following ways you can transform it. This way, you are still able to get a lot of use out of that piece of furniture before just simply throwing it out with the trash.
Remove the "guts" of the entertainment center leaving just the bottom, sides, and top to turn the furniture piece into a dog bed. You will want to sand down any rough edges, paint it the color of your choice, and add a small mattress to the bottom for added comfort.
Kid's Play Kitchen
You can easily create a play kitchen for your kids out of the old entertainment center. Entertainment cabinet doors become a kitchen cabinet door. A long vertical shelving piece can serve as the stove top. All you need to do is add some paint, use some stencils or stickers for a kitchen design, and then give it to your child for hours of endless fun.
Depending on the style of the entertainment center you are working with, you might want to remove some shelves in order to add a wooden block of smaller square spaces that you can use for storing wine bottles. You can hang hooks from the top of the entertainment center that will hold your wine glasses. Designing a wine storage cabinet for your wine collection is easy if you use some creativity and thought before you start.
If for nothing else, you might find that breaking the entertainment center down so that you are able to use the interior shelves for shelves for the walls in your home to be a good option. Therefore, if you find that you have done all of the research you can and you still do not have any inspiration to complete a major project, you can at least make use of some of the wood before throwing the rest to the curb.
Now that you are ready to start transforming your old entertainment center into something truly creative, you need to give it a good cleaning. After that, you are ready to get started with the one project that struck you as the most beneficial for you and your family.
